Something New, LV Fall 2009 Review: Black is BACK, Strong

So, as you can tell from the title this blog entry will be different from my others. I will actually be reviewing the Louis Vuitton Fall 2oo9 collection from famed designer, Marc Jacobs, and tomorrow there will be another. My process of choosing lines to critique is based on intrigue, utter disgust, or by randomly flipping through my dictionary of fashion terms && fashion designers and simply picking a designer.

As a designer, Louis Vuitton, is a household name, and since 1997, designer, Marc Jacobs, has brought the highly iconic line, up- to -date. With current clients such as, Madonna, Rhianna, Gisele Bundchen, and Kanye West, the exposure of Vuitton is phenomenal.

Fall 2oo9 Line Details
For Fall 2oo9, according to Jacobs, it's all about muted pops of color. Reds, yellows, plums, peach, and emerald greens, all accent looks of bold black, grey, and champagne/beige. The bags are extravagantly detailed with the gold monogrammed, LV, leather, velvet, or lace textures, and a bold display of chains. The hair pumps up the volume, with a tussled bun, or front pompadour and is accented with a marble shaped pin.

Accessories, such as shoes, gloves, and necklaces take on a new dramatic form. The platformed pumps in the show range from leather textures, to lace prints and the boots extend above the knee, but the most intriguing detail is the heel. To push the envelope of design and functionality of the heels are not the traditional straightened heel, but somewhat of an inverted pyramid meets the cone shape. The style itself looks dangerous, almost, but very welcoming to the daring fashionista. Another bold accessory is the over sized link chain. The links came in a range of colors and add-ons, such as metallic gold, bright pink with black box points, and pearl adornments. Ruffles, rouching effects, leather, suede, lace, and chains make up the majority of this season's line.

What I am hoping, is that the 'pale' look isn't the new make-up trend. I'm already pale as it is. But, with the rugged/ sophistication theme of this line, it pulls it together pretty well.

theeThoughts
Overall, I would have to say very muted in color, but the details and designs of the garments alone, make the show very worth the risk of possibly twisting your ankle. I would've thought that softer hues of oranges, yellows, and reds would be the basis color palette for the Fall season, but I guess that would be too cliche'. Mr. Jacobs, you are once again, theeFashionista APPRoVED!
